About the Event

High-performance Victorian schools have requested Schools in Action to host a Preseason Basketball Competition so that schools can work on team skills and build team cohension. The competition is open to any secondary school registered with their Education Department in their State or Territory. The competition will accommodate different levels of skill and performance with both a seperate Girls and Boys Years 9 /10  and Years 11/12 Development division and High-Performance division.

The basketball challenge will have a round robin with a play-off format. Teams will have a maximum size of 12 students.

There will be a fee to participate set at $570 plus GST per team.

Upon registering for the competition, a school will be issued an invoice for a deposit of $110 (GST inclusive) to confirm the school’s intention to participate. The deposit must be paid within fourteen days of the invoice date. Schools will be notified if their registration is successful or not following fourteen days after the closure of the registration period.

Schools will need to organise their own transport to and from the challenge, their accommodation and meals. For the relevant tourism authorities go to Welcome To Bendigo Heathcote - Explore Bendigo (bendigoregion.com.au).

Schools are encouraged to bring basketball scoreres to officiate at the competition. If schools are unable to do so they will be charged an extra $125 plus GST for an bench official.

We can organise recording of games at a cost to schools (provided all players have parental permission for recording to occur). You are welcome to bring your own recording equipment but again this will be governed by whether all players have permission to be recorded.
